POS has observed the same slow growth rates for the clients we monitor - in particular observing a decrease in trend across the board for generic products from 2006 to 2007. Many brand drugs lost their patent protection in 2006 but did not get on MAC lists until 2007. That created high cost generics in 2006 and lower cost generics in 2007, which was a natural market phenomenon as opposed to aggressive MAC lists from the PBM industry.
