Current Projects
Welcome to the new internet home of Pharmacy Outcomes Specialists. We are growing and expanding quiet a bit this year and this page will keep you up to date on all of the latest happenings at the firm.

First, the “old” Pharmacy Outcomes Specialists is being rolled up into PBMauditors.com. This subsidiary will handle the traditional pharmacy benefits consulting services that Pharmacy Outcomes Specialists has been known for during the last 11 years. Consulting services like PBM audits, RFPs and plan design consulting will be performed by our associates who report to that subsidiary.

A new offering to regional pharmacy chains will allow those chains to now use our services to audit reimbursements from pharmacy benefit managers. This is an untapped market – very few regional pharmacy chains actually perform audits of the reimbursements they receive…did the PBM reimburse the pharmacy correctly for brand drugs according to contracts in place? What MAC list did the PBM use? And which PBM garners the highest profit so that I can steer patients to those PBMs? Which PBMs do I need to renegotiate with? These questions can now be answered by chainpharmacyreimbursement.com.

Medicare Part D has dominated the pharmacy arena for the last two years and Pharmacy Outcomes Specialists have become experts in auditing PBMs for Part D compliance. We are now unveiling our Fraud, Waste and Abuse package for Medicare Part D Sponsors staring March 1, 2008. This program has three components: an extensive 25 report package mining data for fraud, waste and abuse recovery opportunities, a desk audit feature and an onsite audit feature that targets pharmacies, physicians and patients. We are partnering with ATTAC Consulting in the development of this important project. More information can be found at fwa4plansponsors.com.

Lastly, we are busy working on our 2008 conference. PBIKE 2007 was a widely successful conference whereby attendees received clear, objective information on how to manage pharmacy benefits as well as topical issues presented by leading experts. Partnering with the Midwest Business Group on Health, Pharmacy Benefits Academy 2008 scheduled for September 18 and 19, 2008 will be no exception. However, the conference is taking a turn, now offering courses for the novice benefit manager to more advance courses for seasoned pharmacy managed care professionals. All attendees will recieve a Certicipate of Accomplishment certified by the Human Resource Certification Institute. The conference will now attract new sponsors, exhibitors and a wide array of the industry’s talent and expertise. Topics will target corporate benefit managers, managed care pharmacy directors and Medicare Part D sponsors will feature courses on specialty pharmacy, value based benefit plan design and pricing and generic drugs. Check out the agenda at pharmacybenefitsacademy.com.

Challenges for 2008 include new generic drugs, very expensive brand specialty drugs, emphasis on compliance and proper medication therapy while keeping cost low and satisfying membership. Pharmacy Outcomes Specialists will stay at the top of the leadership curve in assisting our clients with these challenges. |
