Services - POS provides the following pharmacy auditing services:
Performing onsite audits of retail, mail order, specialty and long term care pharmacies. For over 14 years, POS has conducted onsite audits of pharmacies and desk audits with significant savings for our clients. Our audits focus on four major areas:
ANALYSIS
- Analytics and reporting that pinpoints specific problem areas that provide for plan sponsors dashboard reports to know where and when fraud, waste or abuse may be occurring within the pharmacy plan. POS focuses on narcotic abuse, phantom prescriptions and physician/pharmacy/member collusion.
INVESTIGATION
- Through the desk audit process, POS investigates potential fraud, waste and abuse. Steps include contacting the pharmacy for the appropriate records to justify the payment process.
AUDITS
- During the onsite audit process, POS determines if the pharmacy legitimately received, entered, dispensed and given to the patient the correct medication according to the prescription order including inventory controls and purchasing issues. We further investigate all state board requirements for pharmacies.
RECOVERY
- POS recovers any amounts owed to plan sponsors as a result of our field work. In limited situations, pharmacies are turned over for further legal pursuit or law enforcement.
